A Terrific Meeting

We had a terrific meeting last Sunday at The Villages.  Approximately 150 timeshare owners from around the country were in attendance to hear from a full roster of speakers and share important information.

Rich Muller from VRI started things off with a wonderful presentation about a myriad of issues facing both timeshare owners and developers and the fact that consumers needed to exercise caution in dealing with so-called consumer advocates.

Owners in attendance were pleased to hear from both Sarah Goodwin and Carly Dickson, respective representatives of Platinum Interchange and Crown Vacation Exchange about some options available to them.  Attendees also received important information from SFX Preferred Resorts adding to their knowledge base and exchange options.

Peter Emery from Cash Out A Timeshare provided some information to owners who were looking to sell or rent their timeshare...we're pleased to report that only a week later, some timeshares have already been sold!

Bob Follis from The Attorney General's office in Florida spoke about the continuing issue of companies that are out to prey on timeshare owners and the damage that those companies do.  Attendees left with a number of resources to contact in the event they had questions.

Shep Altshuler of TimeSharing Today magazine spoke about the importance of becoming involved in the running of the home resort, whether by being on the HOA board, or at the very least knowing what rights every timeshare owner has.

Lisa Ann Schreier of Timeshare Insights wrapped up by recapping some of the information presented and urging owners to both use common sense when it came to timeshare related issues and the need to tell other timeshare owners about the many available resources out there.

The next meeting of the NTOA will be Sunday, April 15th in Baltimore.  To register, contact Ed Hastry at hastry@aol.com.
